Hi Diane, please introduce yourself.
I am Diane Conklin, an author, entrepreneur, coach, consultant, event planner, speaker and copywriter. I am a direct response marketing expert who specializes in showing small business owners how to integrate their online and offline marketing strategies, media and methods, to get maximum results from their marketing dollars.
I am also the co-founder of Complete Marketing Systems and for more than 12 years, I have been showing small business owners how to use online and offline marketing strategies to outperform their competition by measuring their marketing and strategically using multi-media campaigns to stand alone in their marketplace as the go-to provider for their products and services.
Through my company, Complete Marketing Systems, I help event promoters market, plan and manage their live events, workshops and seminars, using cost effective, multi-step marketing strategies that put butts in seats, without the promoters losing theirs.
How did you get into internet marketing?
By answering this question it’s important to understand that I am a direct response marketer and the internet is just one media I use to market my products and services.
I was introduced to direct response marketing many years ago and immediately knew I loved it – I love what marketing can do for any business – you never really have any problems in your business other than marketing because with some good marketing everything else can be solved.
Is there anything you would do differently?
The only thing I would have done differently is to have started learning about this earlier in my life and career. It’s that powerful.
Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful internet marketer?
Success in marketing is about testing to see what works and what doesn’t – to stop doing what doesn’t work and to do more of what does work. The other key to success is having the right mindset to go with the rest of it – the marketing.
What are your most successful projects?
I have been involved in more than one direct response marketing campaigns that have grossed over a million dollars
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
To keep learning and growing – implement and execute and get things done fast – that way you’ll never have any competition
Do you have any mentors or role models?
Many – in all areas of my life and business
What are the most valuable hints you would give someone who is just starting out?
Find a good coach or mentor who has done what you want to do and is still doing it – this last part assures that they are still current and up to date with things.
Also, keep doing what you love and find experts in the other areas – hire the other stuff out. One of the biggest mistakes you will ever make is trying to learn everything because then you will try to do it all – and you simply can’t.
Finally, find a niche and go to that area – you will make more here than trying to be a generalist.
Any secrets hands-on information you can share with our readers (e.g. great website, book, training, source …)?
It really depends on the particular subject we’re talking about. My best recommendation is to read – not only in your area or business but also books on mindset and self-improvement – alternate them
What are your preferred information sources about the internet marketing world?
I literally study with almost all of the big name marketers so they are too many to name here – and at some point you cut down on that as you become more of a respected expert
Anything else you would like to point out?
Don’t let your business overtake the rest of your life. Keep growing, studying and learning. Be cautious because there are frauds out there – you want to learn from those who are actually making money – not just teaching the topic. Find a coach or mentor. Implement. Use multiple media – one is always the worst number in business because if that one thing stops working or the rules change, you might be in trouble.
Thanks, Diane!

Tolles Interview! Zu dem Thema passt auch gut das Buch von Michael E. Gerber: „The E-Myth Revisited“ als kleiner Lesetipp 🙂
